Exploring The History Of Torquay And The Region

With U3A Surf Coast

Fridays @ 11.00am, Spring Creek House, Price, Street, Torquay, Victoria 

An exploration of the history of Torquay and the surrounding area.

This course is an interpretive history of Torquay and the surrounding areas including the memorable moments in our story.

The course will involve 4 sessions and a research exercise.

 

Creating your own digital history

Cheryl Baulch will help support and develop the skills of the Barunah Park community to create their own digital history.

Together They Served…. and did their duty

Cheryl will share her knowledge of engineer Jack Cunningham’s contribution to the war effort, along with a few other characters from the Anglesea Recreation and Sports Club honour board. This will be followed by an overview of WW1 family history resources that helped her identify over 600 men and women from the Surf Coast Shire named on the honour boards and memorials across the coast.

The workshop, presented by Cheryl Baulch, is designed for participants to develop an understanding of basic genealogy techniques and how to communicate your family history. So if you are starting out, need a bit of guidance or help to get through that brick wall the afternoon will help you.
